Confed's Saga

Behold and listen to these words I give you
Words which speak true of men's hearts And the swords which they yield Held in honor and glory In the day there was war, violence and death That which was held by the fair east Led by Hans von Drachenklae His enemy the dread Edmund of the Middle Alliances had been made, pacts of truth Pledges of one another's fidelity That held bonds of friendship within Pledges were made across the lands and each held a burnished spear Each held land and men These to be sacrificed in battle One group stood apart, away from others Known as the Mountain Confederation Hale men and women all Gifted with swords and skill They were desired by many, coveted by all Fierce was their warband Feared by those of greater wisdom It was to us that they came. Ansteorra, land of the sable star Their king a man of wisdom and heart He sent forth one of fair visage One of fair words and truth She brought to us the words, Words of a king Unto us she promised great treasure And with it great honor in combat Lo, but the people heard these words again And great argument did ensue Was this of honor or greed? Was the price of fair tribute And Cormac, servant leader always, called it fair And Sir Bear, the Wallsband did affirm Others cautioned against haste Claiming one of our own a kingdom win If one of ours a kingdom wins He does so by his own sword And with his kingdom stand alone Unless those of conscience join him And so it was argued yet months more So it was decided at last The Confederation would fight With the kingdom of the sable star Unto Aethelmearc we traveled On the borders of the east To a place called Pennsic In the lands Debate For five days we fought Our soldiers, protectors Within our camp others stayed To care for wounded bodies and hearts Then there was our sixth day of battle The seventh of the week Saturn's day We stood for the final conflict Our hearts ready for death All who stood I remember not A memory that is feeble Prevents me from knowing all But all fought well that day |
